Description
THE CONCEPT FOR BIO BY DOC WAS TO BUILD A LONGER TABLE BOTH PHYSICALLY (UPSTAIRS SPACE WITH LONG TABLES) AND METAPHORICALLY, WITH THAT, WE MEAN INCLUDING/EXTENDING OUR CIRCLE TO REACH EVERYONE AROUND ONE LARGE TABLE. WE ALSO REFER TO BUILDING A LONGER TABLE AS PRACTICE OF SUSTAINABILITY, WHERE WE ARE ONLY COOKING USING LOCAL AND SEASONAL INGREDIENTS. AS WELL AS NOT HARMING ANYONE, NEITHER ANIMALS NOR HUMANS WITH OUR HEALTHY, GLUTEN-FREE MENU, FREE FROM ANIMAL PRODUCTS.
INITIAL CONCEPT - Building a longer table
With is a holistic approach where we are setting an example that vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free food can be served in a setting that allows everyone to feel welcome. The design is working with the existing conditions of the past few restaurants and the beautiful existing edwardian architecture.
Blending our furniture design which we made and designed in melbourne, with design classics from other local makers as well.
It’s a place where the menu allows you to become a regular customer, returning often to enjoy simple, healthy, and affordable food. Unpretentious and simple italian food, cooked with a holistic approach and served in a space full of history, simple and welcoming.
