Mawar Residence — A Study in natural Material, interior Architecture and Remote Design
Designing From a Distance
Mawar Residence was shaped through a hybrid process of selective on-site visits and detailed remote direction. Most of the project unfolded across borders — through drawings, instructions, and a shared vision that carried through every decision. The result is a residence that feels cohesive and intentional, proof that thoughtful design is not limited by geography.
A Decade of Global, Remote-Led Practice
Sublime Studios has operated as a global, location-fluid practice for nearly a decade.
The studio has shaped homes and spaces across continents — guiding projects throughout Europe, Australia, Asia, and North America while working from various locations around the world.
Whether based in Berlin, Mexico City, Sweden, Bali, or Australia, the work has moved seamlessly across time zones and borders.
The geography shifts, but the clarity remains.
When the vision is strong, design doesn’t depend on proximity.
Mawar Residence is a continuation of that rhythm — a home guided through distance, trust, and an unwavering design direction.
Honest Materials as the Foundation
Mawar Residence is anchored in a palette of recycled teak, brushed stainless steel, and local grey brick tiles — a trio chosen for their integrity, tactility, and emotional resonance.
Recycled teak brings warmth and memory into the space, its imperfections and patina left visible as part of the home’s story.
Brushed stainless steel appears in custom joinery and lighting, offering a refined counterpoint to the timber’s organic texture.
Local grey brick tiles run across every level, unifying the home through their matte softness and shifting tonal depth.
Together, these materials form a language of grounded minimalism — timeless, calm, and sensory.
Furniture That Belongs to the Architecture
Much of the interior was designed specifically for Mawar Residence, blurring the distinction between architecture and furniture.
Built-in sofas act as sculptural anchors in the living room and primary bedroom.
Brushed stainless steel kitchen joinery introduces clarity and contemporary edge.
Hand-formed mesh lampshades and box lights bring softness, casting gentle shadows that animate the space.
Each element feels deliberate — designed to belong.
Light as Architecture
Light is treated as a material in its own right.
By day, it reveals the grain of the timber and the quiet variations in the brick.
By night, the home becomes slower and more intimate, shaped by warm shadows and softened edges.
A Soft Blue Thread
Throughout the residence, subtle blue accents appear like breaths — a pastel coffee table, small gestures of coolness within a warm material palette.
These touches guide the eye through the home, offering moments of pause and lightness.
A Home Designed to Evolve
Every material in Mawar Residence was selected for how it ages.
The teak will deepen, the stainless steel will soften, and the floors will gather traces of movement over time.
This is a home designed not to resist time, but to grow with it.
Client Words
“Your vision was incredibly strong… you created a space that stands out in the Canggu villa crowd. I learned so much in this process and I’m very grateful for your time and patience.”
— Anni, Mawar Residence
